The Acta Orthopaedica Belgica, official journal of the Belgian Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, was the first Belgian medical journal belonging to the Acta Medica Belgica publishing group, to appear online offering its content and abstracts to the orthopaedic community via the world wide web. The first online version was launched on August 28, 1996. It is a voluntary effort of a Belgian orthopaedic surgeon also building the Belgian Orthoweb Site.
